Women In Business

Women in Business : one photographer’s focus

This is one of the hardest things I had to do, be interviewed on camera. This was completely out of my comfort zone. I’m damn proud of myself even though I think I look and sound silly, I did it. Being the one behind the camera comes easy, in front not so much. Ali Touey from WKBW channel 7 news interviewed me on a segment called Women In Business.

Where it started

As I discussed with Ali how photography has been a passion of mine since I can remember. I used to take my grandmother’s film camera and take frame after frame of all the birds, bugs and flowers in her beautiful garden. She still picks on me to this day for all the film I “wasted” and how I “lost” her camera. I was very passionate about nature photography and then in my late teens black and white photography. I didn’t take any photography courses in high school, nor did I pursue college. I am completely self taught. I suppose this isn’t something to brag about as I have taken the long road. I would have never guessed that I would have ended up here, photographing people let alone babies.

Pursue your passion

A lot of credit to my family for sticking with me, being flexible and patient with me so that I could pursue my passion and become the photographer that I am. Being a business owner is tough, being a women in business is business is tough, but being the only person running this business is much harder. It’s just me running this business, me and me alone. I didn’t have any formal training in either photography or running a business. The flexibility to be able to stay home with my kids and watch them grow while also helping provide for my family for very important to me. It’s been an honor creating these beautiful memories for families. Sitting back and thinking that for generations to come and when I’m gone my name will still be on these memories.

Stay focused, work hard and you can reach your goals too. My passion is freezing this time and moment for you and your family. Never again will this moment be, never again will they be this little. Please visit my website to book your session today!
